What is Title I?

Title I is the largest federally funded education program designed to support academically at-risk students in both public and private schools. The federal government provides Title I funds to school districts based on the number of low-income families they serve. These funds are then used to supplement existing resources and improve academic achievement for all students.

How Are Schools Selected for Title I?

Schools qualify for Title I funding when their poverty rate exceeds the federal threshold. Positive Outcomes Charter School meets these criteria and uses Title I resources to support the success of every student enrolled in our program.

How Are Title I Funds Used?

At Positive Outcomes Charter School, we operate a school-wide Title I program, which enables us to utilize funds to support all students, not just those identified as struggling. When more than 40% of a school’s population comes from low-income households, Title I funds can be integrated with other funding sources to drive school-wide improvement.

Funds are used to implement strategies outlined in our School Improvement Plan, including:

• Hiring additional staff to support instruction
• Providing academic interventions and tutoring
• Offering professional development for teachers
• Supporting family engagement and involvement activities

This plan is based on a comprehensive needs assessment and includes regular evaluation to measure progress. If the plan isn't achieving its goals, we revise it to serve our students better.
